Lack of availability or too great a distance to join us on campus? The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is an intermediate certification course that allows you to discover the world’s wines over several weeks and is available whenever, wherever.

The online WSETLevel Level 2 Award in Wines will enhance your knowledge of the leading local and international grape varieties, the regions in which they are grown, and the style of wine they produce by understanding the environmental factors and production techniques for each. In addition, it allows a broader mindset to welcome international visitors.

Upon completingthis qualification, you will be able to read and understand a wine label, know the taste of the main grape varieties and skilfully advise your customers on food and wine pairing.

 

  • Available in English and French, the online WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is divided into thematic modules taught over five weeks.
  • Four to six hours of study per week are recommended to cover the online activities and the WSET® textbooks provided at registration.
  • Regular access to and active participation in online activities are essential for this learning mode.
  • There is no limited time for the theory part of the course; you can complete the modules at your own pace.

How will my WSET Level 2 Online Wine Course training proceed?

Here are the different stages of the online WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines, from course registration to certificate validation.

I validate my registration with the support of the WiSP team.

I receive my access codes to connect to the e-learning platform.

I have unlimited access to the online study modules and progress at my own pace. I have unlimited access to the e-learning platform and can manage my progress at my own pace over the 5-week course duration (recommended study time: 6 hours/week).

This qualification is delivered as a group training session. As such, an educator monitors my progress and facilitates the group session. I ask all my questions in the forum to fully understand all the concepts covered in the modules.

The exam takes place online on the date I chose at registration. It consists of a multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) with 50 questions to be completed within 1 hour.

Six weeks after the exam, I will receive my results by e-mail. If I successfully pass my exam, I will receive my WSET® certificate and lapel pin by post.

The concept of terroir and its impact on viticultural practices.

The influence of winemaking and bottle ageing on the eight principal grape varieties (chardonnay, pinot gris, sauvignon blanc, riesling, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir and syrah) as well as the styles of wine produced in each growing region.

The styles and characteristics of wines from other local grape varieties in the main wine regions.

The influence of grape varieties and winemaking processes on the key styles of sparkling and fortified wines worldwide.

The basic principles and practices of wine storage and service, as well as food and wine pairing.

How does the online course work?

The online modules are available for a period of five weeks. The online modules are available for a period of five weeks. If you enrol in the English version programme, you will have access to the specially-designed WSET e-learning platform: the WSET® Online Classroom. Enrolling in the French version programme makes the course accessible on the WiSP e-learning platform. The training comprises a series of short modules (5 to 15 minutes) to allow continuous learning and mobility. Moreover, the WiSP e-learning platform offers fun and interactive content specially developed by our educational team for an enriched experience. Another way to learn while covering all the WSET® modules. An application is also available on your tablet or Smartphone to study on the move, wherever, whenever. The WiSP team remains available to provide a specific revision schedule.
