FAQ - WSET level 2 award in beer

This course is designed for those who have already obtained the WSET Level 1 in Beer. It is open to a wide audience: hospitality professionals, wine merchants, beer experts, zythologists, enthusiasts looking to deepen their knowledge, and anyone transitioning into the beer industry.

The in-person course lasts for 2.5 days at our campuses in Bordeaux or Paris. If you choose the online option, you have one year to complete the modules at your own pace.

You will learn to describe beer ingredients, understand production processes, assess beer quality, and serve and pair beer professionally.

The evaluation consists of a multiple-choice quiz with 50 questions, whether in-person or online. You also have the option to retake the exam if necessary.

The price of the course starts at €750. This includes course materials, tastings, and access to the online learning platform for the online option.

You will have the opportunity to taste over 20 beers, whether in the in-person course or through online activities.

After obtaining the WSET Level 2 in Beer, many opportunities await you in the beer industry. You could work in restaurants or bars advising customers on beer choices, become a wine merchant or beer expert specializing in craft beer sales, work in import-export, or even start your own microbrewery!

The international exposure you gain from a WSET training is a significant advantage. You will have the opportunity to connect with peers from around the globe.

WSET courses can complement other beer training, especially in tasting. You will learn to taste and evaluate beers using the WSET systematic tasting method, gaining knowledge about all beer styles worldwide.

The in-person course takes place over 3 days at our campuses in Bordeaux or Paris, with direct interaction with your instructor, Julia Charlotte BASSO. In contrast, e-learning allows you to learn at your own pace, wherever you are, for a duration of one year, following interactive modules.

For the in-person course, you will have a closed-book exam with 50 questions to complete in 60 minutes, after attending the classes and tastings. For e-learning, the exam is also conducted online with the same format, but you have the flexibility to take it remotely after completing the modules.

In-person, you will taste 20 beers in class, enhancing your practical experience. In the online format, while you won’t have live tastings, you will have access to discussion forums and feedback from other learners and your instructor.
