...The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines is an introductory wine educational programme suitable for beginners. This hands-on course aims to discover the essential stages of viticulture and vinification. You will explore the main types and styles of wine, and grape varieties through sight, smell, and taste. You will also learn the principles of wine storage and service and gain basic skills in accurately describing wines and pairing wine and food correctly. After completing your course, you will be able to respond to your customers’ requests, provide them with knowledgeable advice and perform proper wine service.
The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines is organised around seven or nine course modules, and delivered entirely through a 4-week e-learning platform access with an examintation on Campus in WiSP Bordeaux. Modules must be followed in their original sequence for better understanding, but students can complete them at their own pace during the course duration. An estimated 12-hour study time is required. Regular access to and active participation in online activities are essential for this learning mode.

I validate my registration with the support of the WiSP team.
I receive my access codes to connect to the e-learning platform.
I have unlimited access to the online study modules and progress at my own pace. I have unlimited access to the e-learning platform and can manage my progress at my own pace over the 4-week course duration (recommended study time: 2 hours/week).
An educator monitors my progress. I ask all my questions in the forum to fully understand all the concepts covered in the modules.
The exam takes place on campus in WiSP Bordeaux on the date I chose at registration. It consists of a multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) with 30 questions to be completed within 45 minutes.
Six weeks after the exam, I will receive my results by e-mail. If I successfully pass my exam, I will receive my WSET® certificate and lapel pin in digital version by email.

Access to the e-learning platform WSET
Upon registration, you will receive unlimited 4-week access to the WSET® e-learning platform to complete your online course. No books are required as all content will be covered online. Tasting is essential to the programme; you must source the recommended wines yourself. The study materials do not include samples. We offer the possibility to add a sample kit (with extra fees) delivered at home before your course.
