Vintage Results for WSET Level 3 in Wines & Spirits

6 May 2025

At WiSP, the 2023/2024 academic year is coming to a close on a particularly flavourful note: outstanding results in the WSET Level 3 exams, both in Wines and in Spirits. And let’s be honest—we’re incredibly proud of our students!

The WSET Level 3, whether in wines or spirits, is known for its high standards. The leap from Level 2 is significant. It’s no longer enough to master the basics or memorise flashcards. You need to taste with precision, argue with nuance, structure your thoughts clearly… In short, you need to raise your game—just like ageing a fine wine. And this year, our students rose to the challenge beautifully !

Excellent results:

In Wines, WiSP matches global averages on two of the three assessments:

  • Tasting: 89% pass rate – a true recognition of our students’ sensory analysis skills.
  • Multiple Choice: 90% pass rate – proof that core knowledge is firmly in place.

But it’s in the most feared part—the short written answers—that WiSP truly shines:
63% success, compared to a global average of 57%.
A remarkable performance that reflects deep preparation, tailored teaching methods, and thorough training in structured written expression.

As for Spirits, the numbers speak for themselves:

  • Tasting: 89% (vs 85% global)
  • Multiple Choice: 95% (vs 87% global)
  • Short Written Answers: 84% (vs 71% global) 🏅
  • And the cherry in the cocktail? Best Level 3 in Spirits Award in the EMEA zone—for the second year in a row!

These figures say it all. Excelling in the short written questions means demonstrating a deep understanding of production methods, styles, regulations, and being able to build logical, well-argued, relevant, and clear answers. That’s where our students stand out—and we deeply admire their dedication and passion.

This infamous written exam is always a real challenge.

Candidates must:
• Know each topic in enough depth
• Be guided by the action verbs
• Provide well-argued answers—not just memorised content
• Write in a clear, concise, and structured manner
• Stay relevant and focused throughout

So, what makes WiSP different?

These exceptional results aren’t just down to luck. Behind the numbers is a method, a philosophy, and above all, a team fully committed to student success.

  1. An outstanding team of educators

At WiSP, our instructors are leading figures in the world of wines and spirits, many of them holding the prestigious Master of Wine title.
They teach with passion, share with generosity, and bring stories to life—just like opening a great bottle: with joy and connection.
Huge thanks to Gauthier Bernardo, Annabelle Mispelblom, Fanny Darrieussecq, Cécile Debroas, Matthias Seignette, Emiliano Stratico, Didier Ghorbanzadeh, and Kevin Rigault.
Your expertise elevates everything we do.

  1. A one-of-a-kind learning platform, made by WiSP

Before in-person sessions even begin, our wine students enjoy exclusive access for six weeks to an interactive online platform, custom-designed by our education team.
It offers engaging, varied content perfectly aligned with the WSET’s requirements.
There’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world—and it’s a real key to success, giving students a head start and confidence before day one.

For our spirits students, we offer a dedicated introductory webinar, covering the WSET’s expectations, exam techniques, how to approach the textbook, and common pitfalls to avoid—for a well-structured and effective preparation.

  1. Personalised coaching for both WSET Level 3 exams in wine

The WSET Level 3 is a true challenge, and at WiSP, we get that.
That’s why we offer one-on-one coaching: answering strategies for written questions, guided tasting practice, focused revision sessions… nothing is left to chance.
The goal? Helping each student perform at their very best.

  1. Passionate, driven learners

And of course, no success story is complete without a huge shout-out to our students.
Their commitment, curiosity, and thirst for learning match the high standards of the programme.
It’s a joy to teach them—and an honour to celebrate their success. Bravo to all!

At WiSP, excellence is in our DNA—and these results are proof.
They reflect our dedication, our passion for wine and spirits, and our ambition to train the leading professionals of tomorrow.
