Following his studies in languages and international business Matthew has always worked in the wine industry. In 1996 he brilliantly became Master of Wine by winning 2 prizes: The Bollinger prize for the best score in tasting and the Listel prize for the best score in the winemaking category! He has been very active in the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) as an examiner and speaker. Today, he is still a member of the Pedagogical Committee on the Tasting part. Over the years Matthew has worked at all levels of the distribution chain: importer, distributor, wine merchant, and for three years he was Director of the Wine Department of the largest UK supermarket chain, Safeway. After many years of buying and selling wine in the UK, Michael moved to France and started a consulting business. He travels the world to buy wines for his clients based mainly in Europe and America.
In 2008 he created Vinécole which offers training programs in France and the UK. He now shares his vast knowledge and experience by giving trainings and conferences around the world.
