Canadian, Michael came to the UK in 1989 where he has always worked in the wine industry. After several years working for the big names in the London trade (Oddbins, Windrush Wines), he obtained his Master of Wine degree in 1995 with, as the icing on the cake, the J. Sainsbury prize for the best essay! He then founded the independent wine importing company, Winetraders Ltd and opened the first tasting school in Oxford WineMatters. Michael teaches all levels of the WSET including the demanding Diploma. He quickly established himself as a specialist in Italian wines, which he particularly liked, and published articles on the subject in various specialized magazines (Harpers, Decanter, etc.). He has also contributed to the “Italy” section of several global wine encyclopedias with his editor Dorling Kindersley (UK). Michael currently lives in Oxfordshire but works all over the world.
His character as a fighter and a fine strategist makes him the ideal profile to teach exam strategy and preparation for the demanding WSET Diploma exams!
