Sally Easton MW

Wine

Sally Easton MW is a freelance British educator, journalist and author. She is a certified educator and lecturer for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), for whom she has worked closely for 20 years, with responsibilities in both physical and online classrooms, as well as for writing various study materials during much of that time. In 2017 she has written her first book ‘Vines and Vinification’, commissioned and published by the WSET, to accompany the Diploma coursework on the production of wine (D1). Her book has been doubly decorated: it was awarded the OIV award for 2018 in the ‘Viticulture and Oenology’ category. It is also the UK winner of the Gourmand Awards 2019, in the ‘World of Wine – wine professionals’ category, and shortlisted for the Gourmand Awards 2019, best in world. Sally was recently a key contributor for the overhaul development project of the WSET Diploma in Wines, which launched in August 2019.  With 2019 launch of the revamped Diploma. Prior to her freelance career she held a number of different retail and senior buying posts in the industry, including for bulk shipper/UK bottler Kingsland Drinks, and the epitome of traditional merchants, Berry Bros. & Rudd. 

 In 1995 Sally was awarded the Vintners’ Cup, which is presented annually to the graduate achieving the highest aggregate mark across all units of the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines and Spirits. She went on to gain her Master of Wine qualification in 1998. She has subsequently also obtained a Master’s degree in journalism to support her written and spoken work in the industry.
